Photography Enthusiast Doctor Captures Hospital Under COVID-19

Tim Locke | May 21, 2020 | Contributor Information

Dr Tuck Goh is never without his camera and is a keen street photographer. He's had his work shown at the hospital before but recently he's documented the emergency reconfiguration made to Belfast's Ulster Hospital, and how staff have been dealing with coronavirus. The 59-year-old managed to use his camera when time allowed during busy shifts to record the scenes for generations to come. Dr Goh has allowed Medscape UK to show some of his images.

Dr Goh describes his images: "A triage Portakabin was installed at the main entrance to the ED. This 'Pod' was manned 24/7 by a doctor and all walk-in patients were then directed to either the COVID or non-COVID zones."

Dr Goh takes care to wrap his camera in cling film when he photographs in the Red/COVID zone. Colleagues are happy to appear in his images and patients are carefully framed to avoid being identified. Here: "A nursing colleague in PPE treats a patient."
